The FIS (Fenster Industrie Schmölln) plant is located in Schmölln, near Leipzig, Germany. FIS was founded in 1990. It grew out of Owoplast, a nationally owned company such as the majority of companies in the former GDR at the time. It was specialized in the processing of synthetic materials. As early as 1991, the FIS factory manufactured the first PVC windows and participated in the reconstruction effort in East Germany by supplying joinery for the major renovation projects in Berlin, Leipzig and Dresden.
In 2001 it joined the Atrya group and after massive investments in the modernization of the production tool, the production site specialized in order to become a leader in the manufacture of PVC windows and entrance doors. The factory therefore invested in a new 1200 m² machining center for cutting, welding and plastering. This acquisition led to an improvement in productivity and product variety.
In 2020, FIS produced about 1000 windows and doors per day. Part of the windows is sold in DIY stores under the brand CLOSY, a reference in joinery and ready to install closure as well as for our trading brand, AMGO.
